CHESTERFIELD, Va. – The Sweet Briar swim team (3-4, 3-2 ODAC) concluded action in 2022 with the Yellow Jacket Invite today hosted by Randolph-Macon.
The Vixens kicked off the meet with an 11th-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sophomores
Jillian Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) and
Acadia ElzHowe (Georgetown, Texas), senior
Peyton Murphy (Norfolk, Va.) and graduate student
Caroline Lewis (Ellicott City, Md.) combined for a total time of 1:52.53. The team of sophomore
Halle Moore (Waldorf, Md.), first-year
Caroline Lilly (Camden, N.C.), junior
Kass Carpenter (Mechanicsville, Va.) and sophomore Gabi Aparicio claimed the 15th spot with a time of 2:06.40 in the event.
Carpenter got her individual races started with 500-yard freestyle. The Virginia native recorded a time of 6:01.52 while ElzHowe, Aparicio and Lilly completed in the race as well and saw times of 6:26.34, 6:42.14 and 7:29.82, respectively.
Competing in the 200-yard IM for Sweet Briar were Murphy and J. Lewis. Murphy registered a time of 2:28.38 while J. Lewis had a time of 2:41.90.
C. Lewis and Murphy finished just apart from one another in the 50-yard freestyle with times of 27.26 and 27.81, respectively. J. Lewis rounded out the field of competition with a time of 29.70.
The 400-yard medley relay would conclude Saturday afternoon's schedule of events. Carpenter, J. Lewis, ElzHowe and C. Lewis would record a time of 4:38.82 to finish in 13th while first-year
Dana Kriesien (Sun Valley, Idaho), Aparicio, Murphy and Moore would come in 15th with a time of 5:15.69.
The afternoon session began with ElzHowe capturing 14th in the 100-yard butterfly. Her time of 1:04.98 was followed closely by Murphy's time of 1:08.63 who finished in 16th.
In the 200-yard freestyle, Carpenter and C. Lewis finished in 16th and 18th, respectively, with times of 2:14.15 and 2:15.50.
J. Lewis, Aparicio and Lilly saw action in the 100-yard breaststroke. J. Lewis registered a time of 1:17.96, Aparicio had a time of 1:28.55 and Lilly recorded a time of 1:32.91. In the 100-yard backstroke, Carpenter, C. Lewis and ElzHowe finished within nearly a second of one another with times of 1:10.61, 1:11.17 and 1:11.77, respectively. Moore and Kriesien rounded out the field in that event with Moore securing a time of 1:20.60 and Kriesien a time of 1:22.73.
Sweet Briar wrapped up the day with the 200-yard medley relay. The team of Carpenter, J. Lewis, ElzHowe and C. Lewis finished in 12th with a time of 2:07.95 while Kriesien, Aparicio, Murphy and Lilly combined for a time of 2:24.83 in 16th.
